About the wine
Picturesque landscapes of Burgenland give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Austrian Weingut Familie Umathum conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Culinary tip from Flaschenpöstler: This Zweigelt is ideal to serve with barbecues or Wiener Schnitzel.
Tasting note
A charming Austrian. The wine, vinified from the Zweigelt grape variety, has the color of dark, dense red. On the nose, it is fruity with fine cherry aromas and a delicate note of pepper. On the palate, it is full, soft and elegant, with a noble aftertaste. A classic from Lake Neusiedl.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with beef, pasta, game, vegetables.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. In the cellar, the grapes go through visual selection. The fermentation takes about two weeks at a controlled temperature of between 28 and 30°C. The wine is then moved to wooden barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation. The wine ages for two winters without filtration in old oak barrels to achieve stability and maturity.
