About the wine
Billecart-Salmon has been owned by the same family for 200 years and is now managed by François Roland-Billecart in the 7th generation. It is a long tradition that is maintained with a lot of love. But prestige and tradition alone are not enough to stand up to the big champagne houses, the quality must be right and that is the case here. Billecart-Salmon cultivates a vineyard area of 30 ha in the best locations with great care. The champagnes are full of nobility, very balanced, full of finesse and elegance. Classic champagnes, wines that ennoble any occasion.
Tasting note
Not a non-vintage, but rather a multi-vintage blend of the exceptional years 2000, 2003, 2008 and 2010. Grand Cru Pinot Noir (92%) and some Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay from the best locations in the Montagne de Reims and Côte de Blancs. Combines the power, depth and complexity of a great vintage without sacrificing the typical Billecart Salmon freshness and breed. Rich nose of ripe lemons, yellow fruit and brioche, indicating subtle wood. On the palate, the fine bubbly mousse stands out first, then the ripe fruit acidity and the intoxicating aromas: yellow fruits again, plus red berries and crême brûlée, apple strudel, fine nougat notes, minute finish.
