Heida

Pearl of the alpine wine

The grapes of the Heida variety grow on vines located in Valais, Switzerland at 650 to 1150 meters above sea level. If there were not also a vineyard in Cyprus at the same altitude, we could proudly claim that the highest wine in Europe is our Valais Heida. But we are also satisfied with the shared first place.

Recommendation: Heida – the pearl of the Alps. The «Pearl of Alpine Wines», as Heida white wine is affectionately called, comes across as full-bodied, harmonious and fresh, with aromas of nuts, honey and exotic fruits. The Valais gem goes best with alpine cheese, raclette or fondue, but also with amuse-bouches with fish, foie gras or smoked salmon.

Did you know that ...

... the Valais wine grape Heida has a Jura twin? In fact, an equally rare grape variety is grown in a small area in the Jura: the white wine grape variety Savagnin, which is identical to the Heida grape.
