Giusto di Notri IGT 2021 - Azienda Agricola di Tua Rita

About the wine

From a small, artisanal garage business to a top winery with cult status worldwide. The success story of a family from the picturesque town of Suvereto. More than thirty years ago, Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti acquired the lands of today's Tua Rita winery in order to enjoy their pension in peace and quiet in idyllic Suvereto and pursue their passion — cultivating land. At this point, the couple was probably not yet aware of the fame their wines would achieve worldwide in just a few years. Redigaffi 2000, a pure Merlot, was the first Italian wine to be awarded 100 out of 100 points by Robert Parker and Wine Spectator and is still considered one of the best Merlots ever. But this is far from over. The pure Syrah, the Bordeaux blend Giusto di Notri and the base wine Rosso dei Notri (a 50/50 blend of the typical Sangiovese grape with the international grapes Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah) are also excellent top wines. Despite cult status and worldwide fame, the winery remains true to its original ideals and is continued by son-in-law Stefano Frascolla and daughter Simena.

Tasting note
Complex, complex nose with dark berry aromas and dried, wild herbs in the bouquet. Juicy on the palate, powerful in structure yet round and harmonious without being clumsy, in the end caramel, dried figs and ripe cherries - great length.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with hearty meat dishes made from game, beef and lamb.
Vinification
Aged for 18 months in new and once used French barriques, then refined in the bottle.
