About the wine
A must for connoisseurs, this dominant Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 — Gran Coronas Reserva DO! You can describe the landscape in Catalonia with words such as barren. However, the Spanish winery Miguel Torres is trying to express the beauty of its homeland with this red wine. We think he succeeded! The Flaschenpost team promises a culinary experience when you serve this Cabernet Sauvignon with Gruyère burgers or pizza with mushrooms.
Tasting note
More than 40 years ago, Torres began experimenting with new varieties that had hitherto been untypical for Spain. The result was a Cabernet Sauvignon Tempranillo cuvée that matured longer in barriques. This was the birth of Gran Coronas Reserva, which quickly became one of Torres' best wines. A dark cherry red in the glass. Intensely fruity of blueberries and blackberries with delicately spicy juniper notes and balsamic notes. Warm on the palate with velvety tannins, which are nicely rounded off by maturation in barriques. A very successful reserve for little money!
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The ideal drinking temperature for the red wine is slightly chilled 16°-18°C. Flaschenpost team tip: Gran Corona's Reserva DO goes perfectly with Gruyère burgers, ribeye steak and pizza with mushrooms.
Vinification
The Tempranillo grapes are harvested from the beginning of September, the late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon only from the end of the month. The grapes remain on the skins for 14 days and then ferment at approx. 28-29° C. for a week in stainless steel tanks. Then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (30% virgin wood).
