About the wine

The Caves du Château d'Auvernier are idyllically situated on Lake Neuchâtel. Our own vines grow on about 16 hectares, plus a further 24 hectares that cultivate the caves themselves, as well as 20 hectares of winegrowers, with whom the house has worked in part for generations. The vines grow on a terroir similar to that in Burgundy: light to moderately heavy limestone soils from 40cm to 3m up to the rocky subsoil. The winery compensates for its slightly more southern location than in Burgundy and the balanced temperatures due to the proximity to the lake, with altitudes about 100m higher than its French relatives.
