About the wine
Venus la Universal was founded in 1999 by the gifted oenologist Sara Pérez and is now run by her husband Rene Barbier Jr. They work in harmony with nature, cultivation and expansion follow biodynamic principles (currently not certified). Venus la Universal is one of many fascinating projects by the two winemakers, whose fathers kissed the priory awake with Mas Martinet and Clos Mogador. Sara Pérez and René Barbier Jr. are now continuing the Spanish wine fairy tale of their legendary fathers with great success not only in Priory, but also in Montsant.

Tasting note
Serious, strict elegance. Dark and deep, berries, discreet sweetness, fresh fruits such as oranges and lots of mineral structure. On the palate with a ripe balance, very steadfast and determined, between the tannins and the minerality, a noble sweet fruit seduces.
Culinary recommendation
Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Goes perfectly with barbecue, game and roasted vegetables.
Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Spotan fermentation of the partially destemmed, whole berries in wooden tanks and open wooden vats, after which the wine matures for 20 months in large and small wooden barrels.
