Bastei Riesling GG 2020 - Gut Hermannsberg

About the wine

The winery can look back on an eventful history. But it wasn't until Jens Reidel and Christine Dinse took over the estate in 2009, made Karsten Peter a winemaker and turned everything upside down, that we are back to the glorious times of the 1960s to 1980s. Gut Hermannsberg only owns large vineyards and there is hardly a winery in Germany that has such an abundance and variety of prime locations. Even the entry-level Riesling clearly shows that this potential is being fully exploited. This is no longer a secret and Gut Hermannsberg is literally overwhelmed with lots of praise, points and awards.

Tasting note
Downhill - flow and spectacle, warm distinctive fruit, with confident coolness, plus this train, this pace, sometimes gentle passages, and then again rougher, warm, dark minerality, unshakable substance. Soft on the palate, flies downhill, wind, equally soft soil and lots of stone, gently dark minerality, goes over the obstacles full and self-confidently, the sweet, orange, almost red fruit smooths out the tart, harsh notes, great maturity and substance - and this incomparable Riesling acid, dry. Spectacular Riesling, distinctive, self-confident, dark, fascinating high. Very big on its own and at the table — it also takes on hearty dishes.
