About the wine
At the beginning of the 1970s, Swiss architect Wendel Gelpke first acquired the dilapidated Corzano estate and four years later the neighboring Paterno estate. The medieval farmhouses have been lovingly renovated over the years. After studying viticulture in Switzerland, Aljoscha Goldschmidt began helping his Uncle Wendel cultivate the vines 25 years ago. Today, he runs the cellar together with his niece Arianna and produces authentic wines with character and personality, without any manipulation. The family estate, which is not far from Florence, produces high-quality olive oil in addition to the agriturismo business, as well as numerous cheese specialities thanks to their Sardinian sheep farm, which have now found their place in some of the best restaurants in Europe. Wendel Gelpke's endeavour has always been to create high-quality end products from natural raw products, in their simplicity and independence. After Wendel died in 2001, this idea has remained at the heart of Corzano e Paterno to this day and the products continue to attest to this in their honesty and quality.
