About the wine
Louis Fabre looks back on a long winemaking tradition. His family has been cultivating vineyards in the Corbières area for centuries. Through a marriage in the middle of the 19th century, the Château de Luc came into family ownership. In medieval writings, the château appeared for the first time in 1119. It is located in the center of the small village of Luc-sur-Orbieu, which owes its name to the imposing château. The winery, located 20 kilometers west of Narbonne, uses the typical grape varieties of the Corbières region for its red wines. These include Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Due to the calcareous soils, the roots of the vines penetrate very deep into the soil to absorb sufficient water and nutrients. The vines owe this fact that additional minerals are stored in the grapes, which can later be rediscovered in the wine. The vines are grown strictly organically and the wine bears the organic label “FR-BIO-01”. The old vaulted cellars of the chateau, where the wine is aged, provide a mystical backdrop for tastings.
