Rose-Marie Vin de France 2022 - Château le Puy

About the wine

For 400 years (!) The château is family-owned, and yet it is one of the most overlooked châteaux in Bordeaux. The wines do not excel at the primeur tastings due to their moderate alcohol levels, but they regularly shine in blind tastings and are full of life even after decades. What characters who combine tradition and future here. Like Pascal and Jean-Pierre Amoreau, full of humility before nature, there is only minimal intervention in the vineyard, biodynamic viticulture since the 1990s (certified). In the cellar, the two character heads invariably refrain from using new wood, added sulfur and filtration. Le Puy are unique wines that tell the centuries of families' history. The fact that they have been denied the AOC label due to lack of typicality can only be understood as an award after you have only tasted them once! Great, fascinating wines!

Bio
Tasting note
Jane Austen wine, so noble the origin, so much decency, nobility, so subtle and subtle the hints, so noble and feminine and yet rich in feelings, beautiful, clear, discreet elegant light and red fruit, floral, also bright flowers, but also so much tradition, aristocracy, substance, a whiff of wild notes, and yet as elegant as a steed, gently yeasty, playful, ethereal freshness, with an elegant calm. On the palate, feminine aristocratic, significant, powerful, yet of noble restraint, a little ornament, and yet so much charm and play, again the very soft, sweet, bright red fruit, a touch of noble austerity, the barely noticeable tannins, the upright, ethereal freshness, wonderful, gentle spiciness, lasting impression. What a fine rosé, classic feminine elegance and size.. Wonderful!
Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Draining juice from the fermentation of Merlot (la saignée), fermentation with the vineyard's own yeasts, ageing and ageing for up to 10 months in old, small oak barrels, unsulphured, unfiltered.
