About the wine
Fertile and blooming landscapes of Tuscany give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Terralsole conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. This provocative Merlot 2014 — Rotondo IGT crowns every festive meal with elegance and finesse. Culinary tip from Flaschenpost team: This Merlot is excellent to serve with duck or poultry.
Tasting note
The Rotondo is a typical blend from Tuscany. It delights with a sparkling ruby red, strong and warm aromas of black berries, cherries and sweet spices. On the palate, the seemingly endless fruit, the perfect acid structure and the soft, well-integrated tannins are pleasing. An Italian with charm, charisma and a fantastic price-performance ratio.

Vinification
The grapes for the Rotondo grow in the hottest areas of the Terralsole winery. After careful hand-picking and controlled fermentation, the Merlot is aged for 4 months in used barriques of French origin. The Sangiovese matures in stainless steel tanks. After blending, further bottle storage takes place in order to optimally mix the two wines. The annual production for the Rotondo is only approx. 8000 bottles.
