About the wine
Treat yourself and your guests to the senses with the fine Sankt Laurent Black Vintage from 2016! You can describe nature in Lower Austria with words such as mountainous or hilly. However, the Austrian winery Gruber Röschitz is trying to express the beauty of its homeland with this red wine. We think he succeeded!
Tasting note
This St. Laurent has a deep ruby red with purple reflections. Strong aromas of cassis, cranberry, dark wild berries, black cherries, juniper, as well as spicy notes of nougat, caramel and some orange zest inspire the nose. On the palate, it is again full of fruit and spice, a juicy mouthfeel, a refreshing acid structure, velvety tannins and a long aftertaste. A top St. Laurent and a great food manager.

Wonderful with game and dark meat dishes, Austrian specialities, Gill specialities, stews and cheese
Vinification
The Gruber siblings experiment with pleasure. That is why the Black Vintage line was launched. Year after year, particularly charismatic and exciting wines are selected here, which come in strictly limited numbers, as gently as possible and without much intervention in the bottles. With the 2016 vintage, fully ripe and healthy St. Laurent grapes from the Galgenberg vineyard were selected for Black Vintage. The fermentation took place in open containers before the wine was aged for 12 months in new French barriques and bottled unfiltered.
