About the wine
The winemaker from the South African winery Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards has absolutely mastered his craft. Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the fertile and beautiful landscape of the coastal region. If we can offer something special for Christmas 2021, it will be this distinctive red wine 2016 — Uva Mira The Mira Merlot. Tasting note
Enchanting and lively with sumptuous scents of red and black fruits interwoven with vanilla beans, some creaminess and subtle herbal notes that stimulate the senses. On the palate, juicy, pure fruit with refreshing acidity, balanced by delicious fruit sweetness and a delicate herbal finish.
Culinary recommendation
Merlot wine goes well with a variety of foods as it sits in the middle of the red wine spectrum. In general, Merlot goes well with chicken and other light meats, as well as lightly seasoned dark meats.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in modern stainless steel containers and malolactic fermentation is then carried out in barrels. The further ageing takes place for 18 months in selected French oak barrels, 40% of which was new wood. Each barrel is specially selected for a specific Merlot plot and style. Every detail is taken into account — the specific coopers, the origin of the oak wood, the roasting of the oak wood and the size of the barrel.
