About the wine
The winemaker from the South African winery Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards has absolutely mastered his craft. Style and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the sunny and fertile landscape of the coastal region. If we can offer something special for Christmas 2021, it will be this strong red wine 2017 Uva Mira The Mira Shiraz. Tasting note
With a deep purple color in the glass, the Uva Mira The Mira Shiraz exudes a perfume-like bouquet of fragrant violets, black blackberries, herbal fynbos and a hint of black peppercorns. On the palate, this highly endowed drop of remarkable elegance presents itself with leathery tannins and warm spices. Intense and lush nuances of dark berries and fresh herbs pamper the senses and end in a long and pleasantly soft finish.
Culinary recommendation
Great Syrah with braised lamb stew or beef bourguignon.
Vinification
Made from our slightly drier Shiraz vineyard block on the winery, which is located in a lower vineyard location with oak leaf soils and a warmer microclimate. This Shiraz is made in a classic style, strong in flavor with lush black fruit characters and spices, but also elegant due to the altitude and proximity to the sea. The Shiraz was aged for 16 months in 40% new French oak barrels.
