Barbaresco DOCG Bordini 2020 - Cogno

About the wine

Elvio Cogno is one of the winemaker legends who raised Barolo and his Nebbiolo wines to today's level. However, his son-in-law Valter Fissore not only manages his inheritance, but also draws attention to himself with a keen sense for finesse wines. The Bricco Pernice site, which is only 2 ha in size, is planted with the small-berry and flavourful Nebbiolo variety Lampia. This wine is classically aged for 24 months in large 30hl wooden barrels. The result is a Nebbiolo of Grand Cru format thanks to its elegance, complexity, a distinctive yet sophisticated structure and aroma. With the best ageing potential, of course.

Tasting note
Elvio Cogno is one of the winemaker legends who raised Barolo and his Nebbiolo wines to today's level. However, his son-in-law Valter Fissore not only manages his heritage together with Nadia Cogno, but also draws attention to himself with a keen sense of finesse for wines. Cogno's latest masterpiece comes from a 1ha Bordini vineyard in Neive in the Barbaresco zone. Despite the many similarities between this Barolo “twin brother”, the Cogno project with a winemaker friend emphasizes the characteristics of Barbaresco: the Bordini shows Burgundian elegance, a depth that appears less massive but in the finest guise.
Culinary recommendation
