About the wine
With the strong white wine 2017 — Chardonnay Hoog en Laag, nuances and accents are redefined. Beautiful and sunny landscapes of the Breede River Valley give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the South African winery Mont Blois conjures up this white wine with refinement and experience. Culinary tip from Flaschenpost team: This Chardonnay can be served very well with fish with herbs or soft cheese.

Tasting note
Nice nose with notes of grapefruit, white peaches, citrus blossoms and roasted hazelnuts. Soft and round wine with salted cashews and pecan shells in the aftertaste. Pleasant texture Long, soft finish.
Culinary recommendation
Fantastic accompaniment to char siu pork belly with citrus seasoning and fresh coriander, Thai-style duck breast salad with lime juice and roasted pine nuts or oak-smoked trout fillets with dill & lemon cream fraiche and pickled cucumbers.
Vinification
The grapes come from 13-year-old vineyards with red clay soils. Winemaking is kept simple. The grapes were macerated for 3 hours and then pressed in a basket press and fermented spontaneously. There was no malolactic fermentation and the Chardonnay matured for 12 months in used French oak barrels on the lees. The wine was bottled unfiltered.
