About the wine
Between wanderlust and local ties, the forester and winemaker Sighardt Donabaum developed his hunting instinct for real pleasure and genuine quality at an early age. The historic farm of Sighardt Donabaum is located on Zornberg, one of the oldest districts of Spitz. Since 1833, the winery, which now cultivates six hectares in steep mountain terraces, has been owned by the Donabaum family. With a slope of up to 45 degrees, you can imagine what hard work awaits the winemaker. The grapes, which ripen on the steep slopes of the Spitzen Graben, are picked by hand when fully ripe. The unique climate in this part of the Wachau region and the strong temperature fluctuations between day and night, which reach up to 25° Celsius in autumn, favor the particular formation of aromas in the grapes.
