Lagrein De Silva DOC 2021 - Sölva Peter & Söhne

About the wine

Kaltern, this fantastic high plateau in South Tyrol, is so idyllically situated and also somewhat unaffected by the major faults. The Sölva family has been growing wine here for 14 generations, they have been leading the winery through history uninterrupted since 1731, the wine was always a good companion there, it was simply nicer with him, sometimes unable to stand up, but it was always good, unpretentious, it has only been sold beyond the region for a few decades. Sölvas only started bottling in the 1960s, but then quickly became one of the region's flagship businesses, today with around 12 ha and now under the management of Stephan and Peter Sölva a South Tyrolean standard, rooted here in every respect, the old vines, the autochthonous varieties, the style.

Tasting note
Barefoot in the mud - don't think about it! Feel! To feel good, first the red berry fruit in the otherwise very dark soil, into which you sink very easily, earthy, ash, herbs. On the palate, the red, dark fruit is super smooth for a moment, soft and cool, and in it, the longer it runs across the palate, feeling more of these fine tart structures, the dry tannins like slightly sanding sand in the moist soil, then the many green, tart notes, that is so stimulating, as blissful as invigorating, i.e. becoming lighter, clearer, fresher.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Lagrein De Silva DOC passt bestens zu Meeresfrüchten und Riz Casimir.
Vinification
Selective harvesting, fermentation of the destemmed berries, aging and maturation in steel tanks.
