Rosso di Marco IGP Pignatello Terre Siciliane 2021 - Marco de Bartoli, Pantelleria

About the wine

Marco de Bartoli is a personality, a figure in Sicily, father of the Sicilian wine renaissance. With love and also a bit of anger and half the family, he has been fighting back here since the 1980s against the big companies, the unfair machinations and above all the decline of Marsala, which, forgetting all tradition, has degenerate into cheap wine in recent decades, not so with Marco! In its two wineries in Marsala and on the island of Pantelleria, only autochthonous vines are cultivated, of course organic (certified), and, after careful selection, formed into independent wines with a touching soul

Tasting note
Furious, wiry guy. Jump out of the glass with vigor, slender, fresh red fruit, cherries and berries, fresh, tart plants, plus that rooted soul, home, the dark and earthy notes. Passionate young temperament on the palate, not a leaf in front of the mouth, the fresh dark red fruit, bold and slender, the dark minerality, and yet everything comes from a peaceful heart, nutty, after a while, the fresh, tart, impetuous youth becomes endearing. An out-of-the box thinker, so resolutely committed to his cause, yet completely connected to his home country. Thoroughly skin! A true Sicilian.
Vinification
Low yields, selective manual harvesting. Temperature-controlled fermentation with vineyard yeasts in steel tanks, maturation for 12 months in large French oak barrels (1000l) and for 6 months in steel tanks and in the bottle.
