Château Saint Roch Kerbuccio DOC 2018 - Domaine Lafage

About the wine

Château Saint Roch Kerbuccio DOC is a stunningly beautiful wine from the couple Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage. The two oenologists from the south of France make top wines at “ridiculous prices,” as wine critic Robert Parker once said.

Domaine LafageRed wine | 75cl1516°-18°CMourvèdre, Shiraz, Grenache
Decanter: Silber
Tasting note
A fruity and rich deep dark wine, smooth, extremely soft and very harmonious. An intense, versatile bouquet of cassis, prunes and a hint of mango is complemented by spicy liquorice and vanilla aromas. The palate is caressed by a slight sweetness, supple tannins and a nice fruitiness of berries and dried fruit. The finish is wonderfully lasting.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with cheese varieties, but also pizza, lasagna, risotto, Asian dishes and meat dishes (pork, veal, beef, lamb).
Vinification
The vinification took place as follows: The vines for this cuvée are located 20 km from Perpignan and the Mediterranean Sea in the Agly Valley, not far from the village of Maury at the foot of the Cathar Castle Quéribus. The soils in this very sunny growing area are composed of black slate and black marl. The Grenache noir, Mourvèdre and Syrah grapes for Château Saint-Roch Kerbucchio are carefully picked by hand; thus, a first selection is made on the vine, then a further hand selection is made in the cellar. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, between a maximum of 20 and 23° C., the extraction by daily immersion of the pomace cake. The subsequent mash fermentation lasts four to six weeks, and Château Saint-Roch Kerbuccio is aged for 13 months in new 500-liter barrels.
