About the wine
You will definitely have a lot of fun with the fine Gene DOC Bairrada, which was produced in 2007. Sunny landscapes in Bairrada give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Portuguese winery Kompassus conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience.
Tasting note
A great classic from Bairrada, Portugal. The wine is powerful, seductive, lively and yet still quite young. On the nose, it reminds us of spices and balsamic aromas. The taste is very full-bodied, with well-present tannins, but they are silky. A great wine with a long finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with beef, venison, grill, lamb.
Vinification
The main part of this cuvée is the Baga grape. It was vinified with partial destemming, under temperature control. The wine then matures for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The other grape varieties, Touriga Nacional - Água Santa, Moreto de Cantanhede - Bastardo, were also vinified at controlled temperature in 700l oak barrels. The cuvée is then married and matures for another 2 years in small French barrels.
