About the wine
Winemaker Tony Bish is New Zealand's only 100% Chardonnay specialist. He produces his premium wines exclusively from Chardonnay grapes from Hawke's Bay. According to Cameron Douglas MS, one of the best wines from New Zealand in 2021, the grapes come from the same vineyard as Heartwood Chardonnay. Winemaking makes the difference. Tony Bish uses egg-shaped, gold-colored concrete containers for this wine to match the name.

Tasting note
The nose is seduced by aromas of grapefruit, orange peel, tropical notes and subtle nutty nuances. On the palate, the wine unfolds with concentrated aromas of peach, lemon peel and subtle spices. The delightful combination of filigree acidity and creamy texture is followed by a long-lasting, slightly mineral finish.

Goes well with chicken, pork, creamy dishes, crayfish
Vinification
The Mendoza grapes were harvested by hand and gently pressed. For fermentation, the “King of Chardonnay”, Tony Bish, uses egg-shaped, gold-colored concrete containers. The egg shape promotes the natural flow of the wine and also increases the area for yeast contact. The 7 cm thick concrete effectively stores the temperature, which is released again during malolactic fermentation and maturation. Production in the concrete egg also results in a minerality that is normally noticeable in the finish. The wine received minimal treatment before bottling.
