About the wine
The strong white wine 2016 — Neil Ellis Chardonnay White Hall is the missing piece of the puzzle in your wine rack. With experience and intuition, the winemaker from the South African winery Neil Ellis masters this white wine in the beautiful and fertile landscape of the Coastal Region. Tasting note
This wine has an attractive bouquet and combines aromas of limes, nectarines and mineral flints. Tightly structured palate and bouquet blend into a subtle harmony. This wine combines grace with a well-defined character and remarkable concentration.
Culinary recommendation
Great Chardonnay with seafood, asparagus and pumpkin soup with seed oil.
Vinification
The vineyards are located on south-facing slopes, whose soil consists mainly of white mineral sandstone and quartz on a clay subsoil. The vines are trellised and have access to additional irrigation. The grapes were pressed as a whole bundle in a champagne press cycle, using only the freewheeling juice. 100% barrel fermentation, with 30% in new 228-liter fine-grained oak barrels and the rest in oak barrels of 2nd and 3rd occupancy. 20% of the Chardonnay went through malolactic fermentation. The wine was kept in French oak barrels for 9 months.
