The Hundertgulden location is the best location in the Knewitz family's portfolio and also in the entire northern part of Rheinhessen. Hard limestone in the subsoil and calcareous clay in the soil layer make the Hundertgulden vineyard even the richest calcareous vineyard in Germany. On the nose, the same amount of exotic fruit, mango and papaya, you can smell the lime, then cooler aromas with gooseberries and herbal notes. Much more subdued and sparser on the palate, intense minerals come through from the limestone soil, fresh hay, plus juicy acidity, apricots, a powerful finish round off this great Riesling, pineapple and lemon in the aftertaste.
