About the wine

Primitivo is a red grape variety that is mainly native to southern Italy, in Apulia. It originates in Croatia. The main growing area of Primitivo is located between Brindisi, Lecce and Taranto. The Manduria DOC zone in the western part of the Salento peninsula is the center of Primitivo and, with its many hours of sunshine, is responsible for the feeling of well-being. Benedictine monks were decisive in giving the name. The Latin word “primativus” does not mean, as assumed, that the Primitivo is undemanding, but that the grapes are ripe early.
